Alhyasat Returns with a Title on His Mind
Last season’s breakout star, Abdelrahman Alhyasat, was forced to withdraw from the final round due to injury. Now at full strength, the 35-year-old is determined to claim the title that eluded him in 2024.
“This tournament is a pivotal moment in my professional career,” Alhyasat said. “It’s not just another fight — it’s a step toward something much bigger.”
Alhyasat enters the tournament with momentum and motivation, having trained in Phuket, Thailand, with world-class coaches. “This camp has been the most intense and focused of my career,” he said. “I’ve prepared a game plan that leaves no room for mistakes.”
Bendaoud Seeks Redemption in PFL MENA Debut
Across the cage, Taha Bendaoud steps into the PFL SmartCage looking to make his mark after a missed opportunity last season. Undefeated at 4-0, Bendaoud was removed from the inaugural season after failing to make weight but earned his spot this year with a second-round submission win over the previously unbeaten Tariq Ismail at Battle of the Giants.
“Since then, I’ve been training twice a day and I feel like I’ve evolved in every part of my game,” Bendaoud said. “I’m more focused than ever.”
A Rematch Loaded with Strategy and Confidence
This won’t be the first time these two have faced off. Alhyasat has already defeated Bendaoud and believes his experience gives him the edge.
“I know where his weaknesses are, and I’ve trained specifically to exploit them,” Alhyasat said. “This fight will end in the first round, God willing.”
Bendaoud, however, is unfazed. “I respect his skills and think it’s a great challenge,” he said. “But I’m confident in every area: striking, grappling, wrestling. I’m prepared for whatever comes.”
What’s at Stake
With both fighters eyeing a deep run in the featherweight tournament, this quarterfinal could shape the future of the PFL MENA division. Alhyasat wants the crown he narrowly missed. Bendaoud is out to prove he belongs at the top of the game.
“We’re going to put on a great show for the fans,” Bendaoud promised. “The rest is in Allah’s hands.”
