According to a recent IDC-backed report via MoneyControl, Apple is expected to ship 2.8 million Apple iPhone Q2 units in India during the second quarter (Q2) of 2025. This represents a 20 percent year-over-year (YoY) growth, signaling Apple’s continued momentum in one of the world’s most competitive smartphone markets — despite the seasonal sales slowdown and intense summer heatwave sweeping across India.

Strong Growth Amid Industry Decline
While the overall Indian smartphone market is forecasted to shrink by 3–4 percent in Q2 2025 — with expected total shipments of around 33 to 34 million units — Apple stands out as the exception. The report states that Android shipments may decline by 5 percent YoY, making Apple’s performance even more remarkable.
Much of Apple’s growth in India is attributed to:
- Aggressive discount offers
- Attractive financing and EMI schemes
- Continued consumer preference for premium models
This surge follows Apple’s strong Q1 2025 results in India, where it shipped nearly three million iPhones, marking a 23 percent YoY increase. It also became one of the top five smartphone brands in India during that period, recording a 9.5 percent market share.
