CD Projekt Red isn’t done with Cyberpunk 2077 just yet. Despite its launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this week, the game is getting another update. The developer confirmed during a recent livestream that Update 2.3 will roll out on June 26, 2025.
We’re Not Done Yet: CDPR Keeps Cyberpunk Alive
During the REDstreams livestream held to celebrate the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2, community manager Alicja Kozera revealed that another patch is in the works. “You’ve been asking for another DLC… and I can tell you right now that we’re planning another part for the game,” she said. CDPR’s Global Community Director Marcin Momot also confirmed the update on X, stating, “We’re not done yet.”
Update 2.3 will bring yet-unknown features and fixes to Cyberpunk 2077, and more details are expected in the days leading up to the patch release.
Update History: A Long Road to Redemption
Originally released on December 10, 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 had a rocky start. Following years of patches, CD Projekt Red has turned the game into a much more stable and enjoyable experience. Major milestones include:
- Update 2.0: Major overhaul with Phantom Liberty (2023)
- Update 2.1: Added metro system, hangouts, new radio stations
- Update 2.2 (Dec 2024): Photo mode overhaul, customizations
- Update 2.21 (early 2025): DLSS 4 support and platform-wide fixes
Now, the upcoming Patch 2.3 promises to continue that trend — possibly with new missions, gameplay tweaks, or more surprises for fans.
Cyberpunk on Nintendo Switch 2: A New Beginning
June 5 also marked the debut of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on the newly launched Nintendo Switch 2. The version includes the base game and the acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion. The performance on Switch 2 has been reportedly solid, bringing the futuristic RPG to handheld players for the first time.
What’s Next: Cyberpunk Sequel Enters Pre-Production
Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red has officially renamed the upcoming sequel from its codename Project Orion to simply Cyberpunk 2. The game has entered pre-production and is expected to build on the lore and mechanics of its predecessor while taking advantage of next-gen hardware capabilities.
Conclusion
While most developers would consider their work done after five years, CD Projekt Red continues to support Cyberpunk 2077. With Update 2.3 launching June 26, fans of the franchise still have something new to explore before the sequel hits.
