New Delhi, May 10, 2025: Indian Air Force successfully intercepted a Pakistani Fatah-II surface-to-surface missile late Friday night in Haryana’s Sirsa, averting a potential catastrophe in the national capital. Government sources confirmed that the missile, which has a range of up to 400 kilometers, was aimed at Delhi amid a wave of ongoing cross-border hostilities.
According to News18, the Pakistani military launched “Operation Bunyan ul Marsoos” after consecutive days of drone incursions and ceasefire violations. India responded swiftly, targeting Pakistan’s Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, Rafiqi Airbase in Shorkot, and Murid Airbase in Chakwal using air-to-surface missiles and drones.

The interception of the Fatah-II missile comes after multiple drone attacks were reported across Indian cities, from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat. The Indian Ministry of Defence confirmed the downing of 8 missiles and the interception of over 300 drones in the past 48 hours. States including Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir enforced emergency blackouts, with residents reporting sirens and panic in border districts like Jaisalmer, Pokaran, and Barmer.
Pakistan Admits Airbase Strikes
Pakistan’s Director General Inter-Services Public Relations, Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, acknowledged Indian strikes on Nur Khan and Rafiqi Airbases. The Pakistani military reportedly suffered significant losses in air assets, with many aircraft rendered non-operational following the strikes.
India’s pre-emptive defense measures and retaliatory precision strikes signal a serious escalation in the India-Pakistan conflict. All Indian airbases and strategic assets remain secure as the Indian armed forces maintain high alert status along the western front.
Pakistan launched a fresh wave of drone attacks targeting 26 locations — from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat — for the second night on Friday, with the defence ministry saying the enemy’s attempts to hit vital installations, including airports and air bases, were successfully thwarted. Some members of a family were injured in the attack in Ferozpur, Punjab, the only known injuries in the attacks carried out after darkness fell. All the states that border Pakistan were under a blackout.
All Indian air force bases were safe along with other military installations.
India retaliated with strikes in the key Pakistani cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. India also hit three air force bases in Pakistan, sources said.

A number of blasts took place in various cities in Pakistan, including two in Rawalpindi, one each in Lahore and Islamabad.
Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry admitted that India attacked the Nur Khan Airbase and the Rafiqi Airbase.

According to sources, India used air-to-surface missiles and drones in the strikes. Pakistan lost major air assets in the attack and they could not start their machines, they added.
India’s retaliation came after Pakistan attempted to strike India Army bases and civilian areas, government sources said.
Earlier on Thursday night, India took down around 300-400 Pakistani drones at 36 locations in northern and western parts of the country.

Schools and universities in Kashmir and northern states have suspended classes, and transportation has been disrupted in light of the ongoing hostilities.
