Gavi Reacts to Barcelona’s Narrow Win Over Mallorca: Praises Pedri, Fati & Leo Roman

FC Barcelona continued their dominant run in La Liga with a 1-0 win over RCD Mallorca, thanks to a crucial goal by Dani Olmo early in the second half. Despite the slim scoreline, the match was one-sided, with Barça creating wave after wave of attacks.

Following the game, Barcelona midfielder Gavi shared his thoughts with the media, expressing both joy over the victory and surprise at the narrow margin.

“We Created a Lot of Chances”

“We created a lot of chances, but that’s football,” Gavi said. “We kept pushing, and in the end, we scored. So I’m very happy.”

Despite having more than 70% possession and firing 18 shots, Barcelona only managed to find the net once — largely due to the heroics of Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman.

Gavi Praises Leo Roman’s Performance

“I couldn’t believe it. He was fantastic today,” Gavi said of Roman, who made 12 saves during the match. “He played a really great game. But in the end, we managed to score. And that’s what matters.”

On the Importance of the Win

With a Copa del Rey final looming this weekend, Gavi emphasized the value of getting the three points: “I think we played a great match in all aspects. This is a very big win for us. Because on Saturday we have a very big final, and we needed to win today’s match.”

Midfield Chemistry with Pedri

When asked about Pedri, one of the standout performers, Gavi didn’t hold back his admiration: “For me, if he’s not the best in his position, he’s one of the best. He’s fun to play with, and honestly, I enjoy it a lot.”

Support for Ansu Fati

Ansu Fati was given a rare start by manager Hansi Flick, and Gavi expressed his happiness for his close friend: “I’m very happy for him because he’s like a brother to me. He played a great match and I’m very proud of him.”

Focus Shifts to Copa del Rey Final

Barcelona now shift focus to this weekend’s Copa del Rey final at Estadio de la Cartuja in Seville. Gavi admitted he’s eager for the big game: “I’m really looking forward to the Copa Del Rey final.”

With a four-point cushion over Real Madrid in La Liga and confidence high, Barça head into the weekend with momentum on their side.
