Honor has officially confirmed that its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V5, will be launched in China on July 2, 2025. The launch event will kick off at 7:00pm local time (4:30pm IST), with the brand already opening pre-reservations via its official online store.
Honor Magic V5: Successor to Magic V3 with Cutting-Edge Design
The Honor Magic V5 will succeed last year’s Magic V3, which was well received for its slim profile and advanced folding technology. According to official teasers and leaks, the Magic V5 is poised to debut as the thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone in the world, potentially outclassing the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

During the MWC Shanghai 2025 event, Honor CEO James Li offered a sneak peek of the device’s sleek design. The teaser revealed a protruding camera island, side-mounted volume rockers, and a power button. The company promises the device will deliver AI-powered features, PC-level productivity, and advanced multitasking capabilities.
Honor Magic V5 Expected Specifications
Although official specifications are yet to be fully confirmed, the Honor Magic V5 has been spotted on Geekbench with the model number MHG-AN00. The listing suggests the device will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC paired with 16GB of RAM. It is expected to run Android 15 OS out of the box.
The phone is rumored to feature a massive 6,100mAh battery supporting 66W wired fast charging, and an IPX8 water-resistant rating for added durability.
For displays, leaks suggest a 6.45-inch LTPO OLED cover screen and a spacious 8-inch 2K foldable inner display, making it ideal for productivity and media consumption.
Triple Camera System With 200MP Telephoto
Photography enthusiasts can expect a powerful triple rear camera setup, which may include:
- 50MP primary sensor
- Ultra-wide-angle camera
- 200MP periscope telephoto lens for enhanced zoom capabilities
These specs position the Magic V5 as a serious competitor not only to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 but also other flagship foldables entering the market this year.
Honor Gears Up to Challenge Galaxy Z Fold 7

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 — expected to be just 3.9mm thick when unfolded — is set to be one of Magic V5’s biggest rivals. Honor is clearly aiming for an ultra-slim design with the V5 to outmatch Samsung’s foldable lineup. While the exact dimensions are yet to be disclosed, last year’s Magic V3 had a folded thickness of just 9.3mm, suggesting further design refinements are likely.
Honor Expands AI and Productivity Features
Honor also teased advanced AI-backed software features aimed at delivering PC-level productivity. These may include multi-window multitasking, AI-generated content assistance, and improved integration with productivity apps—making the Magic V5 a foldable phone designed not just for entertainment, but serious work as well.
Pre-Reservations Open, Global Launch Uncertain
Currently, pre-reservations for the Honor Magic V5 are live in China. While a global launch has not yet been officially announced, Honor may follow its previous pattern of launching select foldables in international markets a few months after the China debut.
