Introduction
Renowned Indian playback singer Jubin Nautiyal recently shared his views on the dynamic transformation of India’s music industry, highlighting how technology has revolutionized opportunities for aspiring artists. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Nautiyal called the current scenario “a great time” for musicians who can now produce and release their work independently.

Technology Has Changed the Game
Nautiyal emphasized that earlier it was extremely challenging for anyone to even dream of becoming a music artist. “There was a lot of struggle just to reach a stage where you could start your career,” he said. Today, however, technology has made music composition, production, and distribution much more accessible.
“Everything has become so much easier and more approachable,” he added. “You can compose, record, and distribute your music without needing a major label. Independent artists now have platforms to reach global audiences directly.”
Global Collaborations Redefining Indian Music
Referring to recent international collaborations like Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh’s hit ‘Sapphire’, Jubin praised the blurring lines between national and international music markets. “Now, there’s so much English music consumed in India and so much Indian music being heard abroad—it’s all one market,” he said.
Jubin Nautiyal himself has built a successful career since his debut with ‘Ek Mulaqat’ in 2014. His diverse discography includes popular tracks such as ‘Kuch Din’ (Kaabil), ‘Bawara Mann’ (Jolly LLB 2), and ‘Akh Lad Jaave’ (Loveyaatri).
Looking Back at His Struggles

Reflecting on his early career, Nautiyal explained how, in the past, aspiring artists had to buy cassettes and CDs just to access music, making the process expensive and difficult. “Today, with one click, you can listen to a song released anywhere in the world. That accessibility fuels the passion of upcoming musicians,” he said.
Independent Music Scene Blossoming
Nautiyal believes that India’s independent music scene will grow exponentially over the next five years. “We’ll multiply at least four to five times as an industry,” he predicted. The digital era has democratized music, allowing anyone with talent and internet access to enter the market.
