PM Modi Holds Emergency Defence Meeting After Strikes on Pakistan Airbases

New Delhi, May 10, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened an emergency security meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, the Chief of Defence Staff, and heads of all three armed forces at his residence. This comes in the wake of India’s retaliatory airstrikes on four Pakistani airbases following coordinated attacks on 26 Indian locations by Pakistan.

The high-level meeting was aimed at reviewing national security, civilian protection, and operational strategy amid heightened tensions across the India-Pakistan border.

Earlier today, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sophia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh briefed the press. Misri described Pakistan’s recent actions as “escalatory” and “provocative”, asserting that India has responded with restraint and responsibility.

India also presented proof countering false claims made by Pakistan regarding damage to Indian military assets.

Wing Commander Singh addressed Pakistan’s misinformation campaign, which alleged damage to critical Indian military facilities, including:

  • S-400 system at Adhampur
  • Suratgarh and Sirsa airbases
  • BrahMos sites in Nagrota
  • Artillery positions in Dehrangyari and Chandigarh

She confirmed these claims were completely false and part of an effort to undermine public confidence and India’s defence credibility.

She emphasised that India unequivocally rejects these false narratives, which are part of a broader strategy to undermine India’s military capabilities and instil fear among the public.

Alongside the disinformation campaign, Singh added that Pakistan has escalated its military actions along the Line of Control (LoC), attempting multiple air intrusions using drones and conducting shelling with heavy-calibre artillery guns, which have threatened civilian infrastructure and resulted in civilian casualties.

Meanwhile, incidents of heavy shelling and cross-border firing were reported from various places aligning with Pakistan border on Saturday.

LoC Shelling and Drone Intrusions

India reported intense shelling and drone incursions along the Line of Control (LoC). Pakistani forces targeted civilian areas using heavy artillery, causing infrastructure damage and civilian injuries.

Villages in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab remain under alert, with precautionary evacuations being conducted in border areas.

With military operations intensifying, India is strengthening its security protocols. The Defence Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely as the region braces for further developments. Follow our live updates on the conflict.
