IndiGo Flight 6E 6382 Targeted

According to sources, a call was received on the Sahar Airport hotline early Wednesday morning, warning of a bomb onboard IndiGo flight 6E 6382 from Chandigarh to Mumbai. In response, authorities swiftly activated emergency protocols. The aircraft was moved to an isolation bay, and passengers were safely disembarked. Thorough security checks were conducted to ensure no explosive device was present.

In a public statement, IndiGo said, “As per protocol, the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay, passengers disembarked safely and all standard operating procedures were followed. We deeply appreciate the patience and cooperation of our customers. The safety of our customers is our highest priority.”

Backdrop: Operation Sindoor

This bomb threat comes just after the Indian Armed Forces executed Operation Sindoor, a strategic strike on nine terrorist infrastructures linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. These groups are believed to be behind the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. [Read coverage on NDTV]

According to an official statement issued at 2 am, Indian forces hit terror infrastructure inside Pakistan and PoK. Government sources labeled the post-strike situation as a “national emergency,” indicating heightened vigilance across Indian airspace.

Airspace Monitoring and Flight Disruptions

Following the strikes, airspace across northern India is under intense surveillance. IndiGo reported disruptions to flight operations across cities including Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, and later Bikaner, due to changing airspace conditions.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has prioritized passenger safety and is closely monitoring developments. A senior DGCA official said, “Passenger safety is paramount. We are coordinating with all stakeholders to ensure that necessary precautions are taken without causing undue panic.”

Heightened Vigilance Amid National Security Alert

This latest bomb threat serves as a stark reminder of the volatile security environment following India’s counterterrorism operations. Intelligence agencies remain on high alert, with airport security tightened nationwide.

While the threat to flight 6E 6382 appears to have been neutralized without incident, authorities continue to investigate the source of the phone call. As India deals with the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, the coming days are expected to witness sustained vigilance and enhanced counterterrorism measures.

Conclusion

The convergence of national security operations and civilian aviation risks highlights the delicate balance India must maintain between strategic defense and public safety. The swift response at Mumbai airport underscores the readiness of Indian authorities to handle such threats decisively.
