OnePlus May Enter the Gaming Phone Market
OnePlus gaming phone is reportedly developing its first dedicated gaming smartphone, according to new leaks. The yet-to-be-announced device is said to feature flagship-grade specifications including a top-tier SoC, shoulder triggers for enhanced gaming control, and a massive battery to support prolonged gaming sessions.
However, multiple reports suggest that this gaming-focused smartphone may launch exclusively in China, with a global release remaining uncertain at this stage.

OnePlus Gaming Phone Leak Details
Tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) shared on X (formerly Twitter) that OnePlus is internally working on a new “sub-series” of smartphones specifically targeted at mobile gamers. He further noted that the project is still in an experimental phase, meaning the company could still be refining hardware design and software optimization before a potential commercial release.
Brar also added that the chance of a global launch is currently “dicey”. If OnePlus proceeds with the launch, the device will most likely be limited to the Chinese market, at least initially.
Expected Specifications
- Flagship SoC: Possibly Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or 8 Gen 4
- Shoulder Triggers: Physical triggers for better gaming control
- Big Battery: Extended gameplay support
- High Refresh Rate Display: (Expected, not yet confirmed)
- Enhanced Cooling System: For sustained gaming performance

At this point, no official specifications or renders of the device have been leaked. However, it would likely compete with established gaming phone giants like the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro, ROG Phone 9, and Red Magic 10 Pro+.
OnePlus Gaming Strategy: A Growing Segment
If this project materializes, it will mark OnePlus’ first serious entry into the growing mobile gaming smartphone segment. Recently, brands like Infinix have introduced affordable gaming phones such as the GT 30 Pro 5G in India, which comes with dedicated shoulder triggers offering a 520Hz response rate and gaming-optimized hardware at competitive pricing.
OnePlus may attempt to position its gaming phone at a higher premium, targeting hardcore gamers who demand top-tier performance with flagship-level hardware, cooling systems, and custom gaming modes.
