Barcelona, June 1, 2025Oscar Piastri delivered a dominant performance at the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, converting pole position into a commanding win and leading a sensational 1-2 finish for McLaren. The 24-year-old Australian extended his championship lead, while teammate Lando Norris completed a clean sweep for the Woking-based team.

McLaren’s First Front-Row Lockout Since 1998

The weekend began on a high note as Piastri clinched his fourth pole position of the season, beating Norris by over two-tenths of a second in qualifying — the largest margin in 2025 so far. The result marked McLaren’s first front-row lockout at the Spanish GP since 1998, showcasing their resurgence in the F1 pecking order.

“It’s been a good weekend so far. Last year was miserable here, so to bounce back like this is special,” said Piastri.
