Jammu, April 28: In a passionate address during a special session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Leader of Opposition and BJP stalwart Sunil Sharma vowed justice for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not remain silent in the face of terrorism.
Leader of Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma on Monday asked the people to have full faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that he will not remain silent and the Pahalgam terror attack will be avenged. Speaking on a resolution passed in the J-K assembly here to condemn the terror strike, the BJP leader paid homage to the 26 people, mostly tourists, killed in the April 22 incident and lauded the people for “frustrating terror conspirators” who wished to divide the nation on communal lines.
“Though it took us 36 years to unite against terror, it also brought us on the same page with the nation. The conspiracy was also to divide us, but we made it clear that no conspiracy can divide us,” he said.
“We should have full faith in our Prime Minister who is running a government which has a strong will and has demonstrated it time and again…
“We must be rest assured that that 26 lives snatched from us will be avenged. The person who had made India proud is not the one who can stay silent,” the LoP said.
Sharma said the entire humanity has been shattered by this inhuman act and the whole country is in grief and shock.
Tributes Paid to the Victims
The House observed a solemn moment to pay homage to the 26 people, mostly tourists, killed in the barbaric April 22 terror strike in Pahalgam. Sharma condemned the “inhuman” attack and applauded the people of Jammu and Kashmir for frustrating the terrorist conspiracies aimed at dividing the country on communal lines.
Sharma: “PM Modi Will Ensure Justice”
“We must have full faith in our Prime Minister who leads a government with a strong will and demonstrated resolve. These 26 lives will be avenged,” Sharma declared.
He added, “The person who made India proud on global stages cannot remain silent. This is not just a political issue—it is a national wound that calls for unity and strength.”
Unity in Grief: All-Party Meeting Lauded
Sharma appreciated the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for convening an all-party meeting and showing solidarity. “In these difficult times, a united voice sends a strong message to the enemies of peace—that India stands united and resilient.”
“36 Years, But We Stand United”
Recalling decades of strife, Sharma noted, “It took us 36 years to unite against terror. But today, we have shown the country and the world that terrorism will not divide us. Instead, it has strengthened our resolve.”
Warning Against Disinformation and Divisiveness
Sharma urged people to avoid spreading rhetoric that undermines the morale of the armed forces or the government. “Pakistan knows it cannot defeat India in conventional war, so it plots through terrorism to incite division and unrest,” he cautioned.
Message from the House to the Nation
The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed a unanimous resolution condemning the attack and sending sympathies to the families of victims across India. “Let the nation know that J&K is deeply hurt and stands in complete solidarity with all the grieving families,” Sharma said.
Conclusion
The Pahalgam attack is not just an assault on innocent lives but a challenge to India’s sovereignty and unity. Sunil Sharma’s strong remarks echo the sentiments of a nation that will not back down in the face of terrorism. As the country mourns, it also rises—united and determined to ensure that justice is served.
