The long-awaited Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake continues to move forward, Ubisoft has confirmed, with a release window now officially set before April 2026. Despite facing multiple delays and a turbulent development history, the remake of this beloved classic remains “deep in development,” according to a recent update shared by Ubisoft.
Ubisoft Provides Development Update on Sands of Time Remake
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) via the official Prince of Persia account, Ubisoft reassured fans:
“Yep, we’re still deep in the game — exploring, building, and ensuring the sands move with purpose. This game is being crafted by a team that truly cares, and they’re pouring their hearts (and a lot of coffee) into every step. Thank you for sticking with us.”
The post was accompanied by new concept art featuring an ornate palace set against a vibrant pink sky, offering a small but promising glimpse into the artistic direction of the remake.
A Troubled but Determined Development Journey
Originally announced at Ubisoft Forward in 2020, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake has experienced several delays. Initially developed by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, the project faced significant production challenges, leading Ubisoft to hand development over to its flagship Montreal studio in 2022. Currently, multiple Ubisoft branches — including Ubisoft Montreal, Toronto, Bucharest, Pune, and E-Studio — are collaborating on the title.

While fans wait for the full remake, Ubisoft is encouraging them to experience The Rogue Prince of Persia, a roguelike platformer developed by Evil Empire, the team behind Dead Cells. Released in early access in 2024, The Rogue Prince of Persia is set for a full launch in August 2025.
