Paris Saint-Germain were held to a dramatic 1-1 draw against FC Nantes in a rescheduled Ligue 1 2024/25 clash on Tuesday night. While the result prevented them from securing yet another win, it extended their domestic unbeaten run and saw them set a new European record for longest away unbeaten streak in top-flight football.

Vitinha’s Opener Not Enough for PSG
PSG looked in control after Vitinha opened the scoring with a well-struck half-volley in the first half. The visitors dominated possession and limited Nantes to counter-attacks, but failed to double their advantage before halftime despite Joao Neves forcing a fine save from Patrik Carlgren.
Nantes Respond Late Through Douglas Augusto
Despite their underdog status, Nantes never looked overawed. Their perseverance paid off late in the second half when Douglas Augusto fired in an equalizer following a lung-bursting run and pass from Matthis Abline, sending the home crowd of over 34,000 into raptures.
PSG came close to stealing the win in the dying minutes when substitute Goncalo Ramos’s header from a Desire Doue cross crashed against the crossbar, but the score remained level.
Unbeaten Record and European Milestone
The result means PSG have now gone 39 consecutive away matches without defeat in Ligue 1, breaking the previous record of 38 set by AC Milan in Serie A between 1991 and 1993.
“Today is a special day for us, beating AC Milan’s record. I congratulate my players for that,” said PSG head coach Luis Enrique.
PSG also remain on course to complete an entire Ligue 1 season unbeaten, with just four games remaining. The only club to come close was Nantes themselves in 1994/95, who went 32 games unbeaten before suffering a single loss en route to the title.
Nantes Earn Crucial Point in Relegation Fight
For Nantes, the draw was a massive result in their fight to avoid relegation. They are now four points clear of the drop zone with four games to play—three of which will be at home.
“We didn’t just defend well; we also played good football and created chances. It’s a really well-deserved point,” said Nantes coach Antoine Kombouare.
What’s Next for PSG?
PSG now shift focus to their next Ligue 1 match on Friday against Nice, before traveling to face Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final first leg next Tuesday. With the fixture congestion, Luis Enrique is expected to continue rotating his squad, having rested several stars including Achraf Hakimi against Nantes.
