Samsung Galaxy Watch has announced an exciting set of new health features coming to its Galaxy Watch lineup via the upcoming One UI 8 Watch update. These features aim to enhance user health insights and promote better wellness habits. The new update will first arrive under Samsung’s beta programme before the wider public release.
One UI 8 Watch: Key Health Features
According to Samsung’s official newsroom post, One UI 8 Watch brings three major health upgrades:
- Bedtime Guidance
- Vascular Load Tracking
- Antioxidant Measurement
1. Bedtime Guidance
Samsung’s Bedtime Guidance feature uses sleep data collected over the past three days to recommend the most optimal time to go to sleep. By analyzing your sleep pressure and circadian rhythm, it suggests the best bedtime to help you wake up feeling refreshed and alert. This feature is especially helpful for users trying to recover from disrupted or irregular sleep cycles.
2. Vascular Load: Deep Sleep Stress Monitoring
The Vascular Load feature is one of the most significant additions. It tracks the amount of stress on your vascular system during sleep sessions, giving insights into how your body recovers overnight. This metric is combined with sleep, exercise, and stress data to provide a more holistic health picture.
To use this feature, users must wear their Galaxy Watch while sleeping. Vascular Load is available only on Galaxy Watch Ultra and newer models.
3. Antioxidant Measurement via BioActive Sensor
The Antioxidant measurement feature leverages Samsung’s advanced BioActive Sensor to analyze beta carotene levels in just five seconds. It uses a light-activated sensor located at the back of the watch to deliver real-time antioxidant index readings.
This feature offers behavioral insights and can encourage users to adopt healthier lifestyles by tracking antioxidant levels that reflect diet and stress management. The Antioxidant Index, similar to Vascular Load, will be limited to Galaxy Watch Ultra and newer models.
Running Coach: Train Smart for Marathons
Samsung also announced an improved Running Coach mode designed to help users train for rigorous physical activities like marathons. The feature provides:
- Real-time guidance
- Personalized training plans
- Injury-prevention routines based on fitness levels
After running for 12 minutes, the watch collects performance data and assigns a score between 1 and 10, creating a tailor-made training regime for the user.
Device Compatibility & Software Requirements
All three new features require:
- Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra or newer models
- Android phones running Android 10 or above
- Samsung Health app installed and updated
The One UI 8 Watch update will soon be available via Samsung’s beta programme before rolling out globally to eligible devices.
