Mumbai, May 1 – At the inaugural World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan shared a heartfelt and humorous insight into his relationship with his children. The session, titled “The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler,” was moderated by Karan Johar and also featured actress Deepika Padukone.
Shah Rukh Khan on His Children and Parenting

During the event, Shah Rukh Khan, in his signature witty style, addressed the age-old question of whether it is “lonely at the top.” He revealed that, contrary to popular belief, he does not feel lonely due to the love and laughter he shares with his children. Khan said, “You will never be lonely if you can make your children laugh, and those who don’t have children, if you can make your parents laugh, will never be lonely.”
The actor jokingly added that he is not taken seriously at home, and his children find him hilariously funny. “Main itna funny hoon mere bacchon ke liye (My kids think I’m so funny), that even when I scold or try to discipline them…I also scolded Deepika while shooting Om Shanti Om. When I say something, like ‘listen, you have to sleep by 10 o’clock or something.’ What do they do? Oh my god, SRK!”
The Impact of Humor in Parenting
Shah Rukh Khan’s comments on his parenting style resonate with many parents, as he emphasizes how humor plays a crucial role in maintaining strong, happy relationships with children.
