Shashi Tharoor to Lead Global Outreach on India’s Anti-Terror Stance After Operation Sindoor

New Delhi, May 17, 2025: In a powerful diplomatic move following Operation Sindoor, the Indian government has appointed senior Congress MP Shashi Tharoor to lead a high-level, all-party delegation tasked with delivering India’s strong anti-terrorism message to key global partners, including members of the UN Security Council.

This outreach follows the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives. India responded on May 7 with targeted strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor, neutralizing over 100 terrorists linked to groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen.

India’s Clear Message to the World

According to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, these delegations will “project India’s national consensus” and highlight the country’s “resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations.”

Operation Sindoor: The Trigger

The all-party diplomatic campaign follows India’s cross-border military operation on May 7, which targeted and destroyed nine terror facilities. The Pakistani military retaliated with drone and missile strikes, but India intercepted most and responded by striking selective military targets inside Pakistani territory.

A ceasefire agreement was reached on May 10 after four intense days of skirmishes, marking a temporary halt in hostilities.

Conclusion: National Unity in Global Diplomacy

This bipartisan move highlights India’s commitment to combating terrorism while presenting a united political front to the international community. Shashi Tharoor’s leadership marks a rare alignment of the Opposition with the government on critical national security issues.
