Remember Monday pay tribute to Fire Saga’s cult anthem before heading to Basel
With the Eurovision 2025 grand final just weeks away, UK hopefuls Remember Monday have released a heartfelt cover of “Húsavík (My Hometown),” the Oscar-nominated anthem from Netflix’s Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.
The trio—Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele—travelled to Iceland to film their version of the song, which was originally performed by Rachel McAdams’ character in the cult film. Their visit included stops at iconic landmarks, including the town of Húsavík itself, a beloved symbol of Eurovision fandom.
A Dream Come True in Húsavík
During the shoot, Remember Monday teamed up with a choir of Icelandic schoolgirls who had previously performed “Húsavík” at the 2021 Academy Awards. The music video also featured the country’s famous Elf Houses, adding a touch of Icelandic folklore to the cinematic tribute.
“We’ve never seen anywhere as beautiful with our own eyes,” the band said. “It’s a dream come true to honour the spirit of Eurovision in such an iconic place.”
Steele, who has a fear of flying, even braved a journey in both a propeller plane and a helicopter to complete the emotional project.
Basel Awaits: What the Hell Just Happened?
The band’s official Eurovision entry, “What The Hell Just Happened”, will be performed at the final in Basel, Switzerland. According to bookmakers, the UK is predicted to land just outside the top 10, with Sweden and Austria leading the favourites list.
Still, the group remains confident. “There’s a stigma around Eurovision in the UK, and we’d love to be part of changing that,” said Hull in a recent interview.
Formed during school and refined on London’s West End stages, the trio has starred in major productions like Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, and Six. Their Eurovision campaign has taken them across Europe—from press junkets to mountaintop performances in the Swiss Alps.
BBC Coverage and Fan Excitement Builds
In the run-up to the finals, the BBC will air a one-off special featuring Graham Norton in conversation with Remember Monday, airing on Friday, 9 May, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at their Eurovision journey.
Meanwhile, Sara Cox joins BBC Radio 2’s Eurovision team, providing semi-final commentary with Richie Anderson. Scott Mills and Rylan will return to host the grand final broadcast on 17 May.
Eurovision 2025: Who’s Leading the Pack?
Swedish entrant KAJ is the current favourite to win with the song Bara Bada Bastu, a quirky ode to sauna culture. A victory would mark Sweden’s record-breaking eighth win, surpassing Ireland’s historic seven.
Last year’s contest was won by Swiss singer Nemo with “The Code,” a powerful genre-blending piece exploring their non-binary identity.

Rehearsals Begin in Basel
Rehearsals are officially underway at the Jakobshalle arena in Basel, where stand-in performers are testing staging, lighting, and choreography before the contestants arrive in early May.
With emotions high and fan anticipation building, Remember Monday’s Icelandic tribute has only amplified excitement for what promises to be a memorable Eurovision season.
